Meet Our Advertising Managers

 
JOHN D’ORLANDO
Vice President of Advertising
John has been Director of Advertising at the Orlando Sentinel since March 2008. He began his media career at the South Florida Sun-Sentinel in 1989. Hired as a Territory Sales Rep, he moved to Automotive Sales. Later, he became Real Estate/Recruitment Manager and eventually Classified Director. John has seen many changes in the media business since 1989, but the desire to find solutions for his clients through our vast portfolio of products has remained consistent. 


 


ERIKA COOPER
Director of Digital Sales
Erika leads our Digital Sales team of account executives, client support, project managers and digital architects. Erika’s team is focused on driving business results for our customers with the most innovative and creative digital marketing solutions. It is her mission to share our passion for innovative technology and cutting edge opportunities with the community to help our advertisers succeed in a challenging and competitive marketplace.

Erika graduated with an Advertising degree from the University of Florida. She joined the Sentinel in 1996, working in sales, marketing and training before moving into her current role. Erika is active in the community as a leader of the Reading by Nine program, mentor at UCF and area schools, and can often be found cheering for her children’s sports teams at the local Y.


JAN SHAY
Non-Traditional Revenue Division Sales Manager/Consultant Orlando Sentinel
Jan is a 37-year veteran of the advertising media sales business. After spending 20 years with Westinghouse Broadcasting running radio stations in markets like Pittsburgh, Chicago, New York, and Sacramento--she moved to Orlando spending two years with Clear Channel Communications as General Sales Manager.

In 1998, Jan joined the Orlando Sentinel, gaining insight into the print, direct mail, niche publications, and online businesses.

In her current capacity with Orlando Sentinel Media Group, Jan is responsible for developing their Non-Traditional Revenue businesses, acts as a competitive media consultant for clients, and is a guest speaker on everything from buying media… to convergence…to multimedia selling.

Jan is married and the mother of two children.


GREG SCHARLACH
Director of Local Retail and Auto
Greg has been with Orlando Sentinel Media group for over 23 years. His experience at the Sentinel includes working a variety of sales and management positions including classified telephone sales, local territory sales, national sales, print/digital special sections and new business development.

He was named Local Retail Division Manager in 2008 and added the Automotive sales team to his responsibilities when he became Director of Local Retail and Auto in 2010.

Greg is a graduate of the University of Florida School of Journalism and Communications where he majored in Advertising.


JACK CURTIN
General Manager for Tribune Direct (East Region)
Mr. Curtin’s career in advertising and marketing spans more than 30 years. For the past 20 years, he has held various management positions for Orlando Sentinel /Tribune Direct. 

Before coming to Orlando, Mr. Curtin worked for its flagship paper, The Chicago Tribune. He has been recognized by The United States Postal Service with the National Partners Award, the Management Award at Orlando Sentinel Media Group, and The Chesser M. Campbell Award at Tribune. 

Mr. Curtin is a graduate of the University of Richmond, and attended course work at Northwestern University. He enjoys golf, skiing and gardening.


DANA WARDEH
Director of National Retail/Classified Advertising
Dana Wardeh is responsible for developing sales strategies for the National, Major Retail, Classified and Ad Operations divisions. She leads a team focused on developing creative multimedia solutions including print, digital, mobile, direct, database and events for our most loyal customers.

Dana graduated Cum Laude from Florida State University with a degree in Communications. She joined the Sentinel in 2001 as a part of a competitive year-long multimedia sales track that gave her extensive training in all areas of media and marketing. Since that time Dana has worked in various sales, management and leadership positions and is an active past board member of the FNAME (Florida Newspaper Advertising and Marketing Executives).

When not at work, Dana can be found spending time outdoors with her husband and kids enjoying the beautiful Florida weather.
